Don't listen to Bernanke - watch him
Topic: Economics

As with Bush, who has methodically destroyed Iraq and our military in the name of everything that is good, Bernanke is working to destroy the economy behind a smokescreen of rhetoric which he reads from scripts provided daily by the Ministry of Truth.  There is no connection between what is happening to the economy, and what Bernanke states in public, unless you understand Minitrue's twisted code.  For economic truth, you know where to turn.

What's gotten into kids these days?

Waycross, Ga. -- A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward, police said Tuesday.

from Third-graders plotted attack on teacher, police say

It just so happens that Waycross is either on, or very close to a major ley-line.  The supposed motive, revenge for a scolding, strikes me as a cover story for whatever might have been whispering in their ears.  Something like "you want to be like Harry Potter, don't you?  Well, this is what it's gonna take in the real world."  I also wonder how many were involved in playing first-murderer video games or taking "antidepressants."

Murat Kurnaz' case fits pattern of SRA disguised as interrogation
Topic: SRA/Prisoner abuse

from Ex-Terror Detainee Says U.S. Tortured Him

At Guantanamo Kurnaz says he endured endless months of interrogations, beatings at the hands of soldiers in riot gear, and physical cruelty which included going without sleep for weeks and solitary confinement for up to a month in cells that were sealed without ventilation or were set up to punish him with extreme conditions.

"It's dark inside. No lights. And they can punish you in isolation by coldness or by the heat. They have special air conditioners over there. Very strong. They can turn it very cold or very hot," Kurnaz says.

He says it went on year after year, always the same questions about al Qaeda, and the endless effort to break his will. He heard nothing from the outside and wondered whether anyone knew that he was there.

Then, in 2004, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Guantanamo prisoners did have the right to lawyers. And to his complete surprise, one day Kurnaz was told he had a visitor. It was Baher Azmy, an American lawyer.
[...]
But far worse than the false charges was the secret government file that Azmy uncovered.

Six months after Kurnaz reached Guantanamo, U.S. military intelligence had written, "criminal investigation task force has no definite link [or] evidence of detainee having an association with al Qaeda or making any specific threat toward the U.S."

At the same time, German intelligence agents wrote their government, saying, "USA considers Murat Kurnaz’s innocence to be proven. He is to be released in approximately six to eight weeks."

But Azmy says Kurnaz was kept at Guantanamo Bay for three and a half years after this memo was written in 2002.

They kept him, Kurnaz says, by inventing new charges.
[...]
And he told 60 Minutes he wanted to visit the United States, but can't because the U.S. still considers him to be an unlawful enemy combatant. [end excerpt]

"He says it went on year after year, always the same questions about al Qaeda...."

For those who consider such "questioning" to be an indication that the US wanted the truth, I will suggest that it is actually part of a script designed to conceal what they are doing (performing SRA) from the prisoner.  It is also intended to break the prisoner's will by convincing him that his logic has no bearing on the physical world.

The fact that Kurnaz is still classified as an "unlawful enemy combatant" is just an ongoing attempt to conceal the hideous true motive for the activity at Guantanamo.  They want us to believe that they have some ultra-tip-top-secret proof ("neo-con eyes only" intelligence) that Kurnaz is guilty, but naturally cannot divulge it.

Another probable motive is to create such cases in order to outrage the Islamic world and to help keep the "war on terror" going.  Note that this doesn't mean that there IS such a thing as "Islamic terrorism."  If there were any, why would the US government have trotted out so many transparently bogus cases?  The most famous such case - 9/11 - has been thoroughly proven to have been an inside job.

Pentagon denial of torture is implausible
Topic: SRA/Prisoner abuse

He claims American troops tortured him in Afghanistan by holding his head underwater, administering electric shocks to the soles of his feet, and hanging him suspended from the ceiling of an aircraft hangar and kept alive by doctors. "Every five or six hours they came and pulled me back down and the doctor came," he recalls. "He looked into my eyes. He checked my heart and when he said 'okay,' then they pulled me back up," he tells Pelley.

The U.S. Pentagon responding by e-mail says, "We treat all detainees humanely… and all credible claims are investigated thoroughly…. The abuses Mr. Kurnaz alleges are not only unsubstantiated and implausible, they are simply outlandish."

Ex-Terror Detainee Says U.S. Tortured Him

Well, Mr. The U.S. Pentagon, it is a fact that "useless enemy combatants" have been murdered in US military custody, so Kurnaz' allegations are not implausible.  Furthermore, Mr. Pentagon, such Satanic routine abuse is DESIGNED to be deniable - i.e. to leave no marks - so it is impossible for him to provide substantiation, as you might know.  It is also designed to be incredible, so that any reports from victims will seem incredible.  If the US government really wanted to get to the bottom of things, including whether someone knows anything about supposed terrorist plots, it could easily do so with "no-lie MRI."  The fact that it has not even experimented with it pretty much tells us that they want to hide the truth, and to torture for the hell of it.

How stupid does Gore think we are?
Topic: Big Lies

Global Al has apparently not noticed that the truth has a way of leaking out over that internet which he created.  Now that Spring has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, he has resumed spewing his "global warming" bilge in the mass media, insultingly assuming that we don't realize that it's Fall in the Southern Hemisphere.  (See Gore's Message To Climate Change Skeptics, which is followed by many comments which expose his lies.)  His desperation probably has something to do with the quickly-closing window of opportunity to ram fascist "green" measures down our throats, due to the onset of global cooling and the growing awareness that he's full of methane.

Oop! Oops! Oops! I done broke the Army!

As I wrote at the beginning of the "war" in Iraq, one of its purposes is to destroy the US military "in many ways."  So, not surprisingly, articles such as Pentagon Holds Thousands of Americans "Prisoners of War" have been appearing on the internet. This "prophecy" has been "fulfilled," and the Bush administration and the military leaders who were complicit in its crimes expect us to believe that they managed to do this through a long series of mistakes, every one of which just happened to contribute to the chaos and violence.  It was no prophecy - I just understood the real agenda, which is being disguised (as in the recent Frontline whitewash entitled Bush's War) as anything but the pure evil we see in the form of a lame excuse for "interrogating" people for five years for "timely intelligence," or classified plans to deliberately destroy Iraq's water system.

Bush still saying "bring it on" by provoking all Muslims against the US

"We were very pleased at the beginning when the Pakistanis turned us over to American custody. We sincerely hoped that America would be sympathetic to us and help us. Unfortunately, the facts were different. Although in 2004 and 2005 we were told that we were innocent, we have been incarcerated in jail for the past six years until the present day. We fail to know why we are still in jail here."

from A Chinese Muslim's Desperate Plea From Gitmo
 by Andy Worthington

If this isn't a good reason for Muslims everywhere to decide fight America to the death (including by becoming a suicide bomber), I don't know what is.

from Sadr Offensive Shows Failure of Petraeus Strategy
by Gareth Porter

The escalation of fighting between Mahdi Army militiamen and their Shi'ite rivals, which could mark the end of Moqtada al-Sadr's self-imposed cease-fire, also exposes Gen. David Petraeus' strategy for controlling Sadr's forces as a failure.

Petraeus reacted immediately to Sunday's rocket attacks on the Green Zone by blaming them on Iran. He told the BBC the rockets were "Iranian provided, Iranian-made rockets," and that they were launched by groups that were funded and trained by the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Petraeus said this was "in complete violation of promises made by President [Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad and other most senior Iranian leaders to their Iraqi counterparts."
[...]
The Petraeus assertion that the rocket attacks on the Green Zone were Iranian-inspired strongly implied that Iran is still providing arms to Shi'ite militias. However, Odierno told a press briefing in mid-January, "We are not sure if they're still importing [sic] weapons into Iraq."

That admission came only after many months in which U.S. officers in the border provinces were unable to find any evidence of arms coming across the border from Iran.

Those officers also found no trace of the alleged presence of the IRGC personnel in Iraq. Last November, the French weekly news magazine Le Point quoted Maj. Scott A. Pettigrew, the military intelligence chief in Diyala province on the Iranian border, as saying, "I have never seen any activity or presence of the Quds Force. I see nothing here that resembles a proxy war with Iran." [end excerpt]

It should be obvious to any thinking person that this represents Cheney's latest attempt to lie us into an invasion of Iran, not coincidentally just as the Fed launches its offensive against the US economy in the interests of its owners, Cheney's masters.  As I've written before, the violence in Iraq is being orchestrated to a large degree by the Cheney gang to suit their needs of the moment in their self-perpetuating "war."

Terror-bombing those damned "Terra-ists"

KABUL, Mar 26 (IPS) - Jumakhan Said Muhammad was working on his land when he first heard the planes. "I looked up," the farmer from Musa Qala, in the southern Helmand province, says. "Suddenly a plane flew by and I saw smoke rising from my house, which was down the road."

Muhammad ran towards his home, where dozens of villagers were shouting his name as they surrounded his house. "The house was split in half by the bomb," he recalls. "The walls were collapsed and crumbled. Blood was pouring from my nephew (seven-years-old) like it was water. He had shrapnel in his brain and stomach. I then saw my sister's headscarf peeking out from underneath the rubble and so we raced desperately to save her. When we pulled her out from the wreckage I saw her body -- she was cut completely in half. I started to scream."

Muhammad's sister and nephew are among a steady flow of civilian casualties caused by NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) bombardment, residents say. When such casualties started to rise last year -- bombers destroyed Muhammad's house in November -- coalition forces pledged to change their tactics and ensure that civilians were not caught in such attacks.

But Helmand residents say that they are often still caught in the crossfire and that fighting has been particularly intense in March -- locals claim that aerial bombing killed over 40 civilians in the last two weeks alone.

Helmand residents allege that 13 civilians were killed two weeks ago in a NATO air-strike, and last week lawmaker Nasima Niyazi claimed that dozens of civilians were killed when coalition forces bombed a popular picnic spot in the Sangin district. U.S.-led forces recently admitted to killing six civilians in a house raid in eastern Afghanistan, including two children.

"Strategic Bombing" - More Lessons from the Fascists

The Italian fascists and the Nazis were also the inspiration of another weapon of mass mental and physical destruction for British imperialist mad "scientists." This is what the British euphemistically called "strategic bombing." Soon enough the British passed this new "ultimate weapon" on to their American patrician counterparts.

During the 1920's, Fascist Italy's Commissioner of Aviation, General Guilio Douhet, introduced the doctrine that "command of the air" would guarantee victory in the wars of the future.

He argued that such preponderance would give a country the ability to launch massive strategic bombing attacks on enemy population and industrial centers. Not only would this cause enormous physical suffering and great economic dislocation, but Douhet claimed more importantly that it would have such enormous psychological impact that it would destroy the enemy nation's will to resist. Douhet had been impressed to this effect by the psychological and military effects of German World War I air raids and attacks on Italy, Britain and other nations.

As a result of Douhet's tremendous influence Italy was the first power to emphasize the air arm. However, it was the British who were the first to create an independent air service, the Royal Air Force (RAF). The RAF was established in 1917, as a response to two German daylight air raids on London.

Under the leadership of Chief of Staff Lord Hugh Trenchard (1918-29) by the late 1920's, the RAF had adopted Douhet's position in behalf of the massive bombing of enemy urban and industrial centers as part of their official doctrine although the RAF barely understood the psychological side of Douhet's thesis. In fact, Trenchard's close friend, P.R.C. Groves, Director of Flying Operations (1918), had written several articles in behalf of a reductionist military notion of "strategic bombing" even before Douhet's The Command of the Air appeared in 1921. Meanwhile, U.S. General Billy Mitchell thumped for the "strategic bombing" in United States Army Air Corps.

The Nazis were even more blunt than their Italian Fascist allies about the true nature of the saturation bombing missions on which they sent the Luftwaffe. They labeled this kind of bombing simply "Terrorangriff."

The British leadership scarcely needed the inspiration of Luftwaffe attacks on London and the earlier Italian air terror campaigns in the Spanish Civil War to prepare their own cruder experiments in "terror bombing" under the rubric of their "strategic bombing" doctrine.
[...]
One possible amplification or Reesian innovation would be to utilize limited "strategic bombing" or the mere threat of such bombing primarily for the attainment of psychological victories that soften up the opponent for the kill:

"Continuous heavy bombing of the same communities did not produce decreases in morale proportional to the amount of bombing, The biggest drop in morale was apparent in a comparison between unbombed towns and the only lightly bombed. The morale in towns subjected to the heaviest bombing was no worse than that in towns of the same size receiving much lighter bomb loads....

"These observations of the diminishing returns from heavy bombing point to the practical conclusion that the maximum morale effects of dropping a given tonnage of bombs on Germany would have been attained by lighter raids as widely distributed as possible rather than by concentrated heavy bombing in limited areas....

"It appears that the raids did not have to be directed against a particular area in order to affect adversely the morale of the population in that area. The news of the raids in other places was effective in depressing morale because it intensified both fears of losing the war and feelings of helplessness, and also created anxiety about future raids against the local area."
